Comfort

Does God care about our comfort?

  1. I believe God cares about our comfort to an extent. God loves us and therefore most likely cares that we are healthy, happy, and living fairly comfortable lives. But it all depends on how you define comfort. Perhaps as Americans our idea of comfort goes beyond what is necessarry. Perhaps what God cares about is our heart, are we trusting Him enough to believe that He will provide us with our NEEDS-as opposed to providing us with comfort. Sometimes we are blessed to have both, but either way doesn't change the reality that God loves us-whether we're comfortable or not. We shouldn't be following God so we can get a greater return in our business, or be looking to God to be vending machine. There is so much more to God than His ability to provide us with thigns we want. And really-most of the things we think we need are just things we wish we had. What is the point of asking this question?

  2. I wonder if God wants us to see the world as he does instead of the world we live in. When we drive do we see those who are waiting for the bus. When we are home at night do we remember those who are hiding under the bed while their parents rage. When we draw a glass of water do we recognize those that don't have safe water to drink! When we pray do we pray that our will be done or His will be done?
Maybe God cares more for us than the Sudanese because we are better off than them?
    Just thinking...

  3. I agree that we should be seeing the world through His eyes.

"Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
    Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten."

So often when I wake up I'm only thinking of myself; how much I'd rather just keep sleeping, rather just live my life the way I want, rather just have everything handed to me. Oh goodness, how much I miss the mark everyday. The fact is that I have more comfort than I know what to do with. Comfort causes complacency...that's the truth.

  4. God is not concerned with our happiness...He's concerned with our Holiness. It is very clear if you read the Scriptures...
