Denominational Differences?

The question was something like:
What are our thoughts about the doctoral differences between the churches and should there be much attention given those differences?

  1. I believe that doctoral differences DO matter WHEN they affect the way a church lives out mission. A guy visited our guys group a while back who felt his new Pastor at his church was pushing too hard on the Theology that you HAVE to be baptized to be saved. He expressed that his small group community was really strong and the relationships were healthy and caring but this new push to get EVERYONE baptized was damaging the community and causing division in the body. I told him I would pray for him and encouraged him to speak to the pastor and work towards unity.

I think that ultimately unity and togetherness is what Paul was calling the church to. Christ died for our sins: YES... he also created a new people group, a new identity for us, where Jews and Gentiles could call each other brother, sister, mother, and father.

Let's find our identity in Christ and work towards togetherness. This isn't easy. We're human, we don't get along, we're all different, and we love to fight at times; however, God gives us grace, let's pass that on.
